A 2025 Leiden University thesis on U.S. LGBTQ+ university students found strong support linked to leftist views, decolonization priorities, and self-transcendence values. Some explicitly connect their queerness/transness to Palestinian struggles via shared marginalization/oppression frameworks.
If even a fraction of the organizational talent, time, and moral fervor directed at Palestine went into local homelessness, measurable improvements are plausible: better-run shelters, more transitional programs, advocacy for evidence-based policies (e.g., treatment-first over housing-first in severe addiction cases). Caring volunteers who show up consistently are indeed scarce and valuable—funding alone often fails without competent execution.
